Endocrine tumor information for patients

At Uppsala Centre of Excellence the patients with endocrine tumour disease may receive appropriate evaluation and diagnosis with most modern methods, and treatment based on appropriate evaluation in large patient groups.

Around 20% of current patients at Uppsala Centre of Excellence are international referrals, patients are referred for treatment from Europe, the United States, South America and Asia. The department of Endocrine Oncology has an own ward and outpatient clinic. Patients are referred for diagnostic investigations, tumour localization, initiation of specific treatment, and for second opinion. Weekly patient conferences are run with the Department of Endocrine Surgery, where patients undergo necessary surgery. There are also conferences with other surgical groups at the departments of Thoracic Surgery, Urologic Surgery, and others. Close collaboration has been established with the departments of Radiology, Pathology, and Laboratory Medicine, and has led to development of new methods, specially designed for endocrine tumour diagnosis.
